True love-adopting five kids
Luke가 일하고 있는 방송국에서는 주로 보통 사람에 대한 다큐멘터리를 찍습니다. 다큐멘터리를 영어로 번역하던 Luke는 그 사람들을 존경하지 않을 수 없었습니다.
“나는 가슴이 뭉클해서 서서 울먹거렸어”라고 말할 때
“I stood there with a lump in my throat.”
Luke: Is this story real? She sounds like a Good Samaritan and her adopted 5 kids sound like angels.
PD: Tell me about it, I stood there with a lump in my throat. Man, you can’t watch this life about being poor but being happy without tearing up.
Luke: Did her husband agree to adopt 5 little boys? What about her mom? She must have had tough time to approve her own daughter to do that.
PD: Her husband is a priest and he loves kids. Speaking of her mom, she is still sad about the whole thing, even a little angry.
Luke: 이 이야기 정말이에요? 이 분 완전 착한 사마리아인이네요. 다섯 아이들은 천사처럼 보이구요.
프로듀서: 내 말이! 그거 찍는데 가슴이 뭉클해서 혼났어. 행복하지만 너무 가난한 삶을 눈물 없이는 볼 수가 없더라고.
Luke: 그런데 남편은 다섯이나 입양하는 걸 허락했어요? 친정어머니는? 딸이 그렇게 하도록 하는 게 너무 마음 아팠겠다.
프로듀서: 남편은 성직자고 아이들을 좋아해. 친정어머니 말이 나와서 말인데, 아직도 모든 일에 대해 너무 슬퍼하시고 약간은 화도 나신 것 같아.
Luke는 그 부부가 어떻게 아이 다섯명의 뒷바라지를 할 수 있을지 걱정입니다.
Luke: Do you think they will be able to afford their kids’ education later? What do they do for a living?
PD: They run a small day care center in the town and do a little organic farming.
Luke: 그런데 저 부부가 나중에 아이들 교육은 책임질 수 있을까? 무슨 일을 해?
프로듀서: 시내에서 어린이방을 운영하고, 또 유기농 제품을 소규모로 생산해.
