지난달에 쓴 가스비 용지가 나왔습니다. 대체 어떻게 썼기에 한겨울도 아닌데 200달러나 나올까요? 그래서 Tom은 대대적으로 에너지를 절약하는 방안을 모색합니다.
“컴퓨터 사용하고 나면 꺼 주세요”라고 말할 때
“Please turn off the computer after you use it.”
Tom: Please turn off the computer after you use it. Do you know how much a barrel of gasoline costs these days?
Luke: Why would I bother to check the cost of a barrel of gasoline? I am busy person!
Tom: Well, then check the gas and electric bill for the last month! It`s $200. It`s not even winter! This is insane!
Luke: $200? We could buy a lot of beer with that!
Tom: 컴퓨터 사용하고 나면 좀 끌래? 요즘에 휘발유 한 통이 얼마인지 알아?
Luke: 내가 휘발유 한 통이 얼마나 하는지 왜 일일이 체크하냐? 나 바쁜 사람이거든!
Tom: 지난달에 쓴 가스비 좀 봐봐. 200달러나 나왔어! 겨울도 아닌데! 완전 정상이 아냐!
Luke: 200달러나? 그 돈이면 맥주를 엄청 살 수 있을 텐데.
경제 뉴스를 보고, 점점 올라가는 유가에 Tom은 걱정이 앞서나 봅니다.
Tom: It`s more than just paranoia. There`s certainly room for oil price to go a lot higher.
Luke: Maybe we should discontinue our electricity and gas altogether and live like a caveman.
Tom: 이건 정말 단순히 넘어갈 일이 아니야! 유가가 더 올라갈 가능성이 아주 높다고.
Luke: 그럼 전기도 끊고, 가스도 끊고, 원시인처럼 살아야겠네.
