‘Guess who I bumped into!’
Jenny: Halloween is almost here! Have you decided on what you’re going to dress up as this year?
Jamie: Umm... I browsed around and found some neat costumes. Oh, and guess who I bumped into!
Jenny: Who?
Jamie: Professor Louise. I bumped into him at the shopping center.
Jenny: Professor Louise, our History professor?
Jamie: Yes, him! He was in a hurry and didn’t have any time to chat, so I got his number. How about we arrange to meet up for dinner with him sometime?

Jenny: 예전에 사학을 가르치셨던 그분?
Jamie: 응, 그래! 그분이 바삐 가시는 바람에 이야기할 시간이 없어서 전화번호를 받아왔어. 한번 다 같이 저녁 먹자!
‘사람을 만나다, 책을 읽다, 혹은 영화를 보다’라고 말할 때 ‘see’라는 단어를 쓰지만 우연치 않게 누군가를 길에서 만나게 되었을 때 ‘bump into∼’ 라는 표현을 사용하면 더 자연스러운 말이 됩니다.
